A collection of all the modules I have successfully completed whilst studying Creative Media Technology, with an analysis of the outcome and skills developed. The aim of this is to look back on what I've learnt and achieved since I began my degree, in order to look to the future and consider potential career paths.



Module: Camera and Audio Technologies

Skills: Proper usage of recording equipment, video and audio.

Learning Outcomes: Introduce the principles of basic video and audio recording and manipulation. Develop practical and creative skills in storyboarding, scripting, direction, lighting, camera control, location sound recording, capturing and manipulating music and location management.



Module: Graphic Design

Skills: Photoshop software, marketing considerations, presenting graphic materials, documenting quality of research and development process.

Learning Outcomes:  Produce visual materials to a specified brief. Understand the use of tools and technology related to the field of graphic design. Evidence creative ability with a visual portfolio of work. Demonstrate a knowledge and appreciation of the theories that underpin design practice.



Module: Web Design

Skills: HTML / CSS coding, wireframe development, responsive web design, client communication

Learning Outcomes: Identify the factors that contribute to successful websites and apply this learning in designing a site. Apply design principles in developing the visual look and layout of a website. Use appropriate programming languages to code a website. Show awareness of the current trends and technologies in the web industry



Module: Creative Media Practice

Skills: Critical thinking, team work and communication

Learning Outcomes: Work effectively and constructively as part of a creative team. Identify and develop creative solutions to problems and present them effectively in written, graphical and oral formats. Demonstrate your understanding of the working practices of the creative media industries.



Module: Design Thinking

Skills: 5-step Design Thinking process - Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test.

Learning Outcomes: Investigate and think creatively about design problems and opportunities. Analyse how design thinking can be applied in a variety of contexts. Create a service design blueprint of professional quality.



Module: Visual Communication

Skills: Pitch presenting skills, identity guidelines development, consumer insights, product and packaging design

Learning Outcomes: Organise, plan and deliver a substantial group project in a professional and vocational context. Communicate conceptual ideas through visual & creative material in response to a specific brief. Communicate ideas effectively in both written and oral formats in a formal academic and professional style.



Module: 3D Principles

Skills: Blender and Cinema4D Software, 3D animation

Learning Outcomes: Select and apply appropriate tools in 3D modelling, texturing and lighting. Demonstrate understanding of animation techniques via practical application. Render 3D animations appropriately for delivery in a specified format.



Module: Motion Graphics

Skills: Procreate Dreams and After Effects software, Animation techniques and Storytelling

Learning Outcomes: Be able to effectively design, plan and manage a video post-production piece combining different visual elements with video. Demonstrate a creative approach to the animation and combination of video with other visual elements. Explore advanced techniques in video production and post-production hardware and software. Deliver a product which responds to the requirements of an audience or commissioner.



Module: Web Development

Skills: Bootstrap framework, HTML / CSS / JS coding, difficult data considerations, back-end development using Wordpress

Learning Outcomes: Identify a range of valid solutions for the implementation of a complex data-driven website and critically evaluate the effectiveness of each solution. Objectively analyse the interactive functionality of complex data-driven websites. Apply a range of advanced web development tools and learned principles in the setup of a web development environment and the creation of an interactive data-driven website.



Module: Advanced Graphics for Broadcast

Skills: Visual design & composition, advanced animation techniques, problem solving, development documentation

Learning Outcomes: Develop thematically linked, static visual materials in an appropriate format for animation. Create animated motion graphic sequences applying complex animation and manipulation tools. Communicate technical and creative information related to their work in a clear and concise manner.



Module: Advanced 3D Animation

Skills: Blender and Cinema 4D proficiency, lighting and rendering principles

Learning Outcomes: Select and apply appropriate complex tools in the creation of advanced 3D modelling, texturing, and lighting projects. Demonstrate their understanding of the key theories and principles of animation within different contexts. Render 3D animations using complex rendering systems and techniques.



Module: Web Authoring

Skills: HTML / CSS, basic web responsiveness, interactivity, design.

Learning Outcomes: Identify and present an original creative concept for a website in a clear and concise way. Use appropriate software to design a website and accompanying interactive materials. Apply learned theory to author interactive websites and applications Author material to suit a range of different formats and devices.



Module: Production Project

Skills: Principles of app design, critical review of literature, UX / UI development, user testing

Learning Outcomes: Specify, justify and plan a project to enable the implementation of a substantial product or service of a form appropriate to the student’s subject area / award set. Undertake detailed academic and practical research in an area appropriate to the student’s chosen project. Apply research, methodology and skills to design, build, test and evaluate a solution appropriate to the student’s chosen project. Critically evaluate the processes, methods and outcomes of the student’s chosen project.



Module: Short Story

Skills: Narrative development, Visual storytelling, Production Management, Technical & Creative Execution, Critical Analysis of Media

Learning Outcomes: Demonstrate an understanding of the development process required to manage the production of a short story. Apply a range of complex technical and creative skills in the creation of a creative short story product. Identify new perspectives in creative storytelling, via the critical evaluation of a range of media in terms of production styles, visual interpretation and storytelling.
